New TanglePod Episode: Practice

Don’t let the idea of practice bring back bad memories of childhood piano lessons.  Practicing your creativity can be rewarding every time you make time for it, whether that is once a week, once a month, or if you can make it happen daily.

When you spend time being creative, whether it is with Zentangle or other arts, allow yourself to enjoy the time.  Listen to this episode on Practice and hear how we tackle the challenge to keep up our regular practice.

Whenever I am in a good habit of practice – I find that I enjoy the rewards of the creative time impact so many areas of my life. I feel lighter in my mind, I have time to process all the thoughts, ideas and innovations knocking around in my brain.  And even after doing the same exercise several times in a row – I learn from it each and every time.

Approaching creative time as a time for practice also helps me remove some of the pressure that I can easily feel if I think I am creating a formal work of art.  Being relaxed and in the moment benefits me, and the finished project immensely.

It is not always easy to make time to be creative – but practicing makes it easier to form the habit.  If you need to – schedule time in your day for it – as recommended by this article recently in the NY Times.

As always, don’t forget to check out some additional insight from Juliette about practice on her blog www.artsamuse.com
